I twirl this umbrella in my hands...
It's twisted handle dancing in my fingers...
A twisted umbrella protecting me from the tempest...
Keeping me from it's cold, harsh embrace.
I trust my life with this umbrella...
It doesn't know it but I do...
Helping me get through the storm...
When suddenly my umbrella flew...
The storm had swept it up with wind...
And I sensed the betrayal as it grinned...
Now my umbrella is with the rain...
And my happiness is slain...
My face is stung by violent drops...
Of water that will never stop...
Because my umbrella is with the rain...
My heart now closes up in pain...
The wind dares to take me along too...
To drag me along into the blue...
Because my umbrella is with the rain...
I feel my life and soul now drain...
My umbrella now is one with them...
I am now alone til then....
When my umbrella drops from the sky...
One the ground infront of my eyes...
I don't dare reach for the betraying thing...
That will blow away as soon as I spring...
For now the storm is gone and the sky is clear...
I walk away and leave it here...
Does this make me as bad as the storm...
Who took my friend and made my heart torn...
Was the umbrella dragged or did it go...
I guess it's something I'll never know...
Morning comes and on my step...
Is the umbrella I once kept...
I close the door, and keep it shut...
I hate it now, I know that much...
For now I sit and cry away...
This one final beautiful day...
The cat watches as I weep...
And soon enough it starts to creep...
It paws at the very door..
With the umbrella I tried to ignore...
I open the door and all it says...
"You need to just check your head...
And your heart and your soul...
Being harsh is not your goal.
This umbrella kept you safe.
It was the storm that blew it astray
Now it's back and loves you so
for it was never gone, don't you know..."
I folded the umbrella, put it aside...
I pushed it away from my mind...
Because the pain was way to deep...
For me to lay my head and sleep...___________________
